My Trip to Turpan

Last summer vacation, my family and I went on a trip to Turpan. Turpan is a famous city located in northwest China. It is known for its unique geographical features, rich history, and delicious fruits.

On the first day, we visited the famous Grape Valley. As soon as we entered the valley, we were greeted by rows and rows of grape vines stretching out as far as the eye could see. The air was filled with the sweet aroma of ripe grapes. We had the opportunity to pick grapes and taste them right off the vine. They were incredibly sweet and juicy, unlike any grapes I have ever had before.

Next, we visited the Flaming Mountains, which are named after the intense heat and glowing red rocks that make them appear to be on fire. The Flaming Mountains are not only a natural wonder but also hold great historical significance. I learned that during the journey of Tang Dynasty monk Xuanzang to India, he passed through the Flaming Mountains. It was fascinating to imagine the difficulties he faced in crossing such a treacherous terrain.

One of the highlights of our trip was visiting the ancient city of Jiaohe. This city has a history of over 2,000 years and has well-preserved ruins. As we explored the city, I marveled at the ancient architecture and the intricate details of the buildings. It was like stepping back in time and getting a glimpse of what life was like in ancient China.

Another interesting place we visited was Tuyoq Village. This Uighur village is known for its unique architecture and cultural heritage. We had the chance to visit a Uighur family's home, where we were warmly welcomed and treated to traditional Uighur hospitality. They served us their traditional dishes, such as lamb kebabs and hand-pulled noodles. It was not only a delicious meal but also a cultural experience that I will never forget.

During our trip, we also had the opportunity to learn about the history and cultivation of grapes in Turpan. We visited a local grape farm and learned about the different varieties of grapes grown in the region. We even had the chance to see how the grapes were dried to make raisins, a specialty of Turpan.

In conclusion, my trip to Turpan was an unforgettable experience. I had the opportunity to explore the unique geographical features, learn about the history and culture of the region, and taste delicious fruits. I would highly recommend visiting Turpan to anyone who wants to experience the beauty and charm of this ancient city.
