Title: Lesson Plan for Grade 4 English Class, Lesson 6
Grade: 4th
Subject: English
Lesson: Lesson 6
Duration: 40 minutes
Aim: The objective of this lesson is to introduce and practice vocabulary related to daily routines and actions.
Learning Outcomes:
1. Students will be able to understand and use vocabulary related to daily routines.
2. Students will be able to ask and answer questions about daily activities.
3. Students will be able to use present simple tense to describe daily routines.
Materials:
- Flashcards or pictures of daily activities
- Worksheets for practicing vocabulary and sentence construction
- Whiteboard or blackboard
- Markers or chalk
- Classroom resources (dice, spinner, etc.) for interactive activities
Procedure:
Introduction (5 minutes):
1. Greet the students and conduct a warm-up activity to activate prior knowledge. For example, a quick brainstorming session where students write down as many daily activities as they can think of in English.
Presentation (10 minutes):
1. Introduce the vocabulary related to daily routines and actions using flashcards or pictures. Show one flashcard or picture at a time and elicit the word from the students.
2. Use the flashcards or pictures to model sentences and phrases related to the vocabulary. For example, "I brush my teeth in the morning," "She takes a shower in the evening."
3. Write the vocabulary on the board and elicit the pronunciation from the students. Practice pronunciation together as a class.
Practice (15 minutes):
1. Divide the class into pairs or small groups.
2. Give each group a worksheet with sentences missing words related to the vocabulary learned. The students have to complete the sentences using the correct words.
3. Monitor and provide assistance as needed.
4. Once they have completed the worksheet, have the groups share their answers with the class.
5. Conduct a short review of vocabulary by playing a game like "Charades" or "Pictionary." One student acts out an action, and the others guess the word.
Production (10 minutes):
1. Have the students create a daily routine schedule for themselves using the vocabulary learned. They can draw pictures or write sentences for each activity.
2. Provide scaffolding if necessary by providing sentence starters or sentence frames.
3. Students can present their schedules to the class, explaining their daily routines.
Conclusion (5 minutes):
1. Recap the lesson by reviewing the vocabulary and key concepts.
2. Ask students to provide examples of sentences using the vocabulary.
3. Assign homework, which could include writing a short paragraph about their daily routines using the vocabulary learned.
Note: The duration of each section can be adjusted according to the pace and needs of the students.
