Warm-up (5 minutes):
Teacher: Welcome back, everyone! How are you today?
Students: I'm fine, thank you. And you?
Teacher: I'm great, thank you. Let's start our English class by greeting each other in English. Stand up and greet your friends.
Presentation (10 minutes):
Teacher: Today we will learn some greetings and expressions in English. Look at the screen, these are some common phrases that we use to greet people. Can you read them out loud?
- Hello
- Hi
- Good morning
- Good afternoon
- Good evening
- How are you?
- I'm fine, thank you. And you?
- Nice to meet you.
Teacher: Now, let's practice these greetings together. Repeat after me.
Practice (15 minutes):
Teacher: I will give you flashcards with greetings and expressions. Walk around and greet your friends using these phrases.
Teacher monitors and provides assistance as needed.
Teacher: Now, let's do a conversation practice. Work in pairs. One person will be A and the other will be B. Use the phrases we learned to have a conversation. Here's the worksheet with the conversation dialogue. Fill in the blanks with the appropriate greetings and expressions.
Teacher circulates and provides guidance as needed.
Teacher: Let's switch roles and practice again.
Teacher randomly selects a few students to perform their conversation in front of the class.
Production (10 minutes):
Teacher: We will now play a game called "Find a Partner." I will say a greeting or expression, and you have to find someone who matches it. For example, if I say, "Good morning," you have to find someone who responds with, "Good morning." Ready?
Teacher calls out different greetings and expressions, and students find a partner who matches it.
Wrap-up (5 minutes):
Teacher: Great job, everyone! Before we end the class, let's sing a song together. Watch and listen to the video, and follow along with the lyrics. This will help reinforce what we learned today.
Teacher shows a video or plays an audio recording of a song that includes the greetings and expressions learned in class. Students sing along.
Teacher: That's all for today. Remember to practice your greetings and expressions with your friends and family. See you next time!
Assessment:
Observe students' participation and performance during the class activities.
