Title: My Family

Grade: 2nd Grade

Objective:

1. To introduce basic vocabulary about family members.

2. To develop speaking and listening skills through conversations about family.

3. To provide opportunities for students to learn and use simple sentence structures.

Materials:

- Pictures of family members

- Flashcards with family member names

- A large family tree poster

Introduction (10 minutes):

1. Greet the students and have a short warm-up activity, such as singing a song or playing a game related to family.

2. Show pictures of different family members and elicit vocabulary from the students. Write the vocabulary words on the board.

Main Activities:

Activity 1 - Family Member Flashcards (15 minutes):

1. Show the flashcards one by one, and ask the students to guess the family member's name.

2. Once the family member's name is correctly guessed, ask a few questions about that family member using simple sentences. For example, "Who is this?" - "This is my father. What is his name?" - "His name is John."

3. Repeat the process for all the flashcards, allowing students to take turns guessing and asking questions.

Activity 2 - My Family Tree Poster (20 minutes):

1. Display a large family tree poster and explain to the students that a family tree shows the relationship between family members.

2. Label the family tree poster with the names of family members discussed in the previous activity.

3. Ask students to draw their own family tree on a piece of paper, using the template provided on the worksheet.

Activity 3 - Interview and Role Play (20 minutes):

1. Pair students up and assign the roles of interviewer and interviewee.

2. The interviewer will ask questions such as "How many family members do you have?" or "Who is your favorite family member?" while the interviewee answers using the vocabulary and sentence structures learned.

3. After practicing with a few questions, switch the roles so that each student gets a chance to be both the interviewer and interviewee.

Conclusion (10 minutes):

1. Review the vocabulary words related to family members covered in the lesson.

2. Have students share their family tree drawings with their classmates.

3. Have a short discussion about the importance of family and how family members support and care for each other.

Assessment:

- Observe students' participation in activities and check for their ability to correctly identify and use vocabulary words.

- Evaluate students' ability to ask and answer questions about family members using simple sentence structures.

This lesson plan can be adjusted and modified based on the students' English proficiency level and the available class time. Make sure to provide support and guidance to students who may need extra assistance.
